Automatic Pool Cleaners
One convenient way for new pool maintainers to keep their pool clean and ready to use is with an automatic pool cleaner (APCs). They help reduce—not eliminate—the need for brushing, skimming, and vacuuming the pool so customers can spend more time enjoying their pool and less time cleaning it. Leslie's carries three types of APCs:
Suction-Side Cleaners attach to the suction side of the pool's plumbing as water is being drawn out of the pool to be filtered. The cleaner uses the suction pressure to move around the pool's bottom and walls, vacuuming dirt and debris through the hose and into the pool's pump strainer basket and filtration system. Suction-side cleaners work best in areas where dust and small debris (e.g., leaves and blossoms) can get in the pool. Larger debris (e.g., branches, heavy leaves, and acorns) may require a leaf canister to avoid clogging the filter basket. Leslie's carries a wide range of suction-side cleaners such as the Kreepy Krauly, Hayward Pool Vac XL, and the Baracuda MX-8.
Pressure-Side Cleaners work with the pressure side of the pool's plumbing as clean, filtered water is pushed back into the pool. The cleaner uses the pressure to move around the pool's bottom and walls, vacuuming dirt and debris into the cleaner's debris bag and reducing wear and tear on the pump's filter basket and filtration system. Pressure-side cleaners are great options where pools are more likely to get larger debris like branches, leaves, and acorns. Some pressure-side cleaners require a separate booster pump to operate. Leslie's carries several pressure-side cleaners including the Polaris 3900 Sport and the Hayward Phantom.
Robotic Cleaners are the most convenient. Customers simply plug the cleaner into a GFCI protected outlet, drop the cleaner in the pool, and turn it on. The cleaner moves along the bottom of the pool and climbs the walls, collecting dirt and debris into a fine mesh bag or cartridge. Robotic cleaners are the most expensive APC, but they help extend the life of the pool's filtration system and help save on chemical usage. Depending on your market, Leslie's carries the Dolphin, Aquabot, and Nitro robotic cleaners. Some robotic cleaners include a caddy for easy transport and storage.
