Hi I’m Peter with Leslie’s swimming pool supplies and this video will teach you about pool safety. Pool Safety is mostly talked about in terms of young children but every swimmer should follow some simple rules while around the water.
Pools are great source of fun for but it’s important to take precautions to ensure that all swimmers are safe. Parents, the most important rule is to always watch your kids around water. It only takes a few seconds for an accident to happen so don’t take any chances.
Install a pool fence and keep the gate locked. This will prevent young children from wandering outside and finding their way into the pool area. Other pool safety equipment such as pool alarms, signs, life rings and life hooks or all helpful items to keep people safe around the pool.
Make sure your child knows how to swim. Teaching your child how to swim can go a long way in keeping them safe around water. Prevent people from running near the pool. If water’s on the pool deck, its easy to slip and can cause a number of injuries. Also don’t allow horseplay around the pool. A swimmer could end up hitting their head or worse.
Talk to your kids about the importance of looking where they’re jumping when entering the pool not only should they watch out for other swimmers but they should make sure that the water isn’t too shallow.
Finally, make sure that your water’s chemistry is balanced. A pool that is not properly maintained can cause additional problems for swimmers such as eye irritation, itchy skin and bacteria.
