About the Polaris 280
LPM Part #: 60002
The dependable Polaris 280 easily connects to a dedicated pressure line. Powered by double jets and a separate booster pump, the 280 is suitable for all in-ground pools. It sweeps, scrubs, and vacuums the bottom, walls, and steps of the pool. It also traps large debris like leaves and pebbles in its own filter bag. Double jets provide greater vacuum power and faster cleaning (3 hours or less). Sweeps and scrubs the bottom and walls of any size pool. Runs off a separate booster pump, working independently from the rest of your pool system. Unique filter bag removes debris before it reaches your pump basket or filter, prolonging the life of your filtration system.

It does clean the pool
I've had this since I had my in-ground pool installed 7 months ago. While it does clean the pool pretty well, it tends to always tangle itself up to the point that it cuts the hose and the sidewall/connector jams as water tries to escape. It's starting to become almost a daily occurrence now, so I've stopped running it unless I'm home to monitor it. I've also noticed that when it comes to clean the stairs/slope on the pool the jet line can come out of the water and splash the house or guests quite .. more

Look for something else

I have had a pool for 3 1/2 years and have had 2 of these. The first lasted about 22 months, the second about 20 months. Mine were made with cheap, thin plastic and even the metal gear shafts wore out against a plastic cog wheel. Parts to repair are very expensive. Can't afford to spend $500 every year and a half for a pool cleaner. Get a better quality cleaner.

This device is great. I've had some big rainstorms dump a lot of debris in to the pool where it looks like a swamp. After 2-3 hours it looks great. It runs 3hrs per day all year long and I've only had minor maintenance issues. I'll probably buy another just like it when the time comes.

I had this 280 pool sweep installed in 1999 and todate it is still running. it operates for 3 hrs a day and 365 days a year with only minor wear items replaced like bearings and tires.

constantly buying replacement parts
We have had this cleaner for about a year and find ourselves constantly replacing parts: Bags, foam tips, wheels, pool hose keeps splitting. Save yourself the trouble and upgrade to a better cleaner not made by this company. It is designed to have parts wear out.
